Billboard compiles critic's choice top 10 of 2008... →
Of all the lists I’ve seen so far, this one seems to make the most sense. Using a points system by selected critics, Billboard is clearly more objective than the average magazine. Combining equal parts record sales and creative genius, here it is.
1. Fleet Foxes- Fleet Foxes
2. Santogold- Santogold
3. Bon Iver- For Emma, Forever Ago
4. Vampire Weekend- Vampire Weekend
5. Elbow- The...

The Dead Trees
Earlier this year, a friend and I made the trek to The White Rabbit, San Antonio’s oldest (and most badass) rock club, with the intentions of catching up with one of my favorite bands of ‘08, The Whigs. Two bands I had not seen before were sharing the bill with The Whigs that night, Austin’s own What Made Milwaukee Famous, and Portland’s The Dead Trees.
Now, I hate any...

Double Trouble Rachael Yamagata knows that a sizable portion of her audience might never hear her new album the way she intended. Flaming Lips to Host Halloween Parade
The Flaming Lips are ready to bring back its Halloween celebrations.
The band brings back its March of 1,000 Flaming Skeletons parade to Oklahoma City again this year, which will put hundreds of torch-wielding people in skeletons on the streets Oct. 25. Pretty cool, huh. The down side is you have to purchase a costume directly from the band in order to participate. Cha-ching!

Paste weighs in on new Oasis album, not highly... →
For all the band’s outlandish bragging, Oasis has never shown as much nerve in its sound, preferring to polish the rough edges and refine aggressions rather than seek new territory. This neo-conservatism worked in the past when it uncovered a magical melody, and the newfound band democracy of 2005’s Don’t Believe The Truth pointed toward a potential second act. Each member contributes songs here...
